Was wondering if a podcast could be developed and made available for download to inform people of past/present history and information about the park that could be referenced to certain areas along the walking trails? It would be cool to have a guided tour available to people to listen to at their... (more)

The A-Frame building had several uses some had been a gift shop and food stand, it was... (more)

I'm so sorry the park closed. I remember going as a child in the late 40's & early 50's. It was a child's delight.

I spotted a few Benson Park t-shirts when I visited during the open house, and had the same thought -- that I'd buy one, or a re-print of an old Benson's shirt, in a heartbeat.

It seems to me that the entire internet is populated with folks nostalgic for Benson's. Perhaps T-shirts could be made, and sold to us in some sort of fund-raising effort supporting park maintenance and restoration.

What happened to buildings attached to the "A" Frame near the Gorilla House. I saw pictures of an A-Frame building with other structures attached unless that was another building?

I took my 12 year old daughter to the park today. She really got a kick out of seeing the old buildings. The gorilla cage will be amazing once its brought back to its original condition and the Amphitheatre area will someday be the centerpiece of the town. I am definately interested in... (more)

The main parking lot is about 100 yards from the handicapped parking area on Kimball Hill Road going towards Route 111. It has a temporary sign that says "Benson Park Entrance". Permanent signs will be installed soon. In the parking lot is a kiosk with information about the park, maps and... (more)

I was wondering where the regular parking is for Benson's? I located the handicapped parking, but was not sure if there was another parking lot? Thanks.

I remember Benson's very very well. I worked there for many years. My family lived on the property for about 30 years until my dad passed away. So many stories I could tell about the people who worked there and the things that happened there from blizzards to hurricanes...loose lions and monkeys.... (more)

I am excited to here the possibilty of on an onsite museum in the elephant house, I think a shrine to some of the more popular animals would be cool, Like Betsy the elephant I think she spent her entire life there, and Tony the gorrila, and even that poop throwing monkey what ever it's name... Thank you Carol, the work is still ongoing. We just did not want to keep the park closed to the public any longer after all these years. One of the next things the public will notice is we will be working to remove(one last time) the graffiti and vandalism at and on the buildings. Many other... (more)

Here's a link to a great blog entry by someone who played Spider-man at Benson's in 1987, remembering his experiences at the park:
