Is the park open to the public at the moment? I am curious as to whether or not the general public is allowed in there at the moment and if any of the original animal habitats/cages are still in tact. I don't remember Sally but I remember Judy the Gibbon. I loved her. She was so sweet. I always wondered where she ended up. There was another monkey named Pete. He was cute and kind of biegy pink in color. Not sure what kind he was. and who could forget Junior ? Those monkeys were in... (more)

I am so glad Liz and Queen ended up at the Sanctuary, that Queenie's last years were spent so happily and that Liz's TB is being dealt with. Does anyone know what happened to Jackie II (the young African elephant)? Benson's had just bought her my second summer working there.

perhaps you've recieved this question a million times but, do you have any info on the dog park they wanted to create? We brought our dog when Benson's park was open last fall she LOVED all the scents! I think she would loose her mind with a dog park. Do wild animal scents last 20+ years?

I went in there last night to see the place i have never been there in my life, but i can tell that it was a great place. You guys are doing a great job cleaning up. I can't wait for it to be open so that i can take many pictures.

Saturday - April 17th - Clean-up at Benson Park. Volunteers of all ages are needed in every capacity to clear away brush, branches, tree limbs, etc. Bring any of your gear - trimmers, clippers, rakes, chain saws,etc. (Gloves, pants, & long sleeved shirts are recommended.) Come and join the fun!

I used to visit my grandparents in the summer and they always took us to Bensons. I would love to be a part of the recovery of the park. If anyone has any information regarding open opportunities please let me know. I am excited at the thought of reviving this historic playplace. :)
