I am the Chairman of the Benson Park Committee in Hudson. At this weeks meeting of the Board of Selectmen, it was voted that the park should open on May 29, 2010 which is Memorial Day Weekend. The Park will not be complete and construction will continue over the summer. There will be a dedication of the park sometime in the fall. The hours of the Park have not be determined, but will be posted shortly.

Are you kidding me! You are cleaning the park. Is it going to reopen? I thought the park had been sold. i have many great memories of this great park. I would love to bring my kids their so they can enjoy what I have the pleasure of seeing when I was a kid.

This weekend's weather is going to be perfect for another Clean-up at Benson park. Calling all volunteers of every age to join the fun on Saturday (April 10th) from 9 -2.

We loved Benson's!!! One of my favorite childhood memories was here around Christmas, it was so much fun! Not sure if they did it every year or just that year but they opened at night and there were Christmas lights everywhere.

Thank you for the post, but I was looking for pictures of the Old Lady in the Shoe when the park was opened. Again, we have a gentlemen restoring this landmark and he was looking for the old photos.

March 29th is the second anniversay of Queen's passing.
She left to soon but at least she was free !

The Elephant Sanctuary is a great place !
Liz continues to do well and it's just wonderful that she and Queen got to live there after the many years of tricks and torment.

The pictures posted on this site of the girls getting to play in the 1980's did my heart good.
For so many years before then they were kept either in the barn or performing in the ring.

Thanks to all who showed them kindness !

Benson Park will be holding a Clean-up Day (9AM-3PM) on March 20th, and Saturday’s weather forecast looks like it’ll be a great day to be outdoors. Volunteers are needed, and all help is welcome. (Optional materials - pickups, trailers, tractors, chain saws, brush cutters, rakes, mowers, etc.)

My family toured all through New England and New York state in the very early 50's. Dad hit ALL the kiddie tourist traps for my sister and I. Not long before he passed in '01 we were reminiscing about these vacations. He said that of them all, he liked Benson's the best. I was very young at the time and my memory of the Farm is cloudy, but I particularly remember the parrots (maccaws?) and a great deal of beautiful green grass.

I love to see the old pictures of Benson's, it brings back such great memories. Thank you. It's sad to see how vandals have ruined it. I'm so glad you are working on the park. I hope to bring my grandson there when it is done. I went with my sister to the library last year to see the memorabilia, great! Thanks Arthur for bringing all the animals to NH, and for the great childhood memories they brought. Take care!!

Does anyone know what happened to the camel statue that was at Benson's? I know the lion statues are here in town but have always wondered about the camel. I have many old family photos of us kids on that camel. Lissa of Hudson, NH

Can anyone tell me where to find a daihatzu truck like we drove around the park with? I'm sure I spelled it wrong but anyone who worked there will know what I mean.Not the old mail trucks.The little white buggy,gas engine,standard shift? They're a blast to drive!!!

I remember the park. When i was young I would go in the the summers and spend time with my grandparents(Shirley and Louis Provencher). I used to go to work with my grandfather and we'd walk through the park and I'd help out in the front office rolling up coins or just simply hanging out. It was sad to see that the park closed, but brings back memories looking at some of the photos.
